Found the best way to upgrade the controller board and still use most of the stock parts...

This shows how to modify the 28byj-48 to be a 4wire motor that you can drive from a "real" controller board. This should allow us to keep all the rest of the parts that came with the printer the same.

Wow. That was a lot simpler than I expected, and a good modification. God knows the printer could use better motors :)

Keep in mind, while this does allow them to be used by standard controllers, as well as increase their torque, it also changes the pinout to the board, and the motors run the risk of blowing out, which they do, a lot, as someone who spent most of last year working with 28BYJ-48s.
